Police appeal to public after multiple deliberate fires are started

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a number of arson related incidents over the weekend.

Police have received reports of incidents predominantly in Cheltenham but also in Stroud.

The series of fires began late on Saturday (5 June) evening, going into the early hours of Sunday (6 June).

The incidents include the suspected arson of a car on Butterow Hill, Stroud which was reported to police around 11.40pm. The arson of another car in Hardwick  , Cheltenham, which was reported to police around 12.20am. There was the arson of two hedges and a fence in the Prestbury and Southam areas of Cheltenham all reported to police between 2.30am and 2.50am.

It is unknown if all of the arsons are linked at this stage.

Police are keen to speak to any witnesses of the incidents or anyone who may have any information on them.
