Police close road due to welfare incident

A man is receiving appropriate care following a concern for welfare incident on the bridge at Merrywalks in Stroud, police have said. 

Police received a report at 1,40am on Saturday, October 5, raising concern for the welfare of the man.

Gloucestershire Police said: “Officers attended Merrywalks in Stroud at 1.40am on Saturday, October 5 following concerns for the welfare of a man on a bridge.

“A section of the A46 was closed while emergency services attended and reopened once the incident had safely resolved. The man is now receiving the appropriate support.”
