A 16-year-old girl has died in hospital following a collision in the Cotswolds earlier this month.

The girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Southmead Hospital where she died from her injuries on Tuesday evening (25 February).

A police spokesperson said: “Her family are being supported by a specialist Family Liaison Officer and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

Emergency services were called to unclassified road near the village of Elkstone at around 2.20am on Monday 17 February following a report that a white Volkswagen Polo had left the road and collided with a tree.

The girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Southmead Hospital where she died from her injuries on Tuesday evening (25 February).

A 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, who were also in the vehicle, were taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. They have since been discharged from hospital.

A 17-year-old boy from Stroud was arrested following the incident and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Investigating officers are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior being driven prior to the collision. Anyone who may have recorded the vehicle or what happened on their dashcam is also urged to get in touch.
