Post-Christmas tree collection takes place

This weekend, more than 200 volunteers will gather to collect Christmas trees.

These volunteers include teams from fifteen local companies, members from various Lions and Rotary organisations, volunteers from Stroud District Council and many loyal Longfield supporter volunteers to help collect thousands of Christmas trees from a wide area of Gloucestershire.

Run by Longfield Community Hospice in partnership with the charity JustHelping, this initiative aims to save trees from landfill, turn trees into mulch, chips and bio fuel for reuse locally and raise much needed funds for Longfield Community Hospice through voluntary donations.

The scheme is endorsed by Stroud District Council, and Gloucester City Council, (working with Ubico) is also supporting the scheme by providing two recycling sites.

All money raised helps to fund the hospice’s vital work supporting patients, families and carers across with Hospice at Home palliative care and Wellbeing and Bereavement Services throughout much of Gloucestershire.
