Representative from a social enterprise, Five Rivers, were at Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud last week, raising awareness of the need for foster carers.
Five Rivers looks after children who need specialist care and education. Their teams of Foster Carers, Education and Care staff provide safe, nurturing environments for children across the country.
Recent OFSTED data, covering the period from April 1st, 2024, to March 31st this year reported the number of mainstream fostering households has continued to decline over the past four years, but at a slower rate last year.
Kayleigh O’Donovan, Business Support Manager, told Stroud Times: “There is a real shortage of foster carers across the country, and the Five Rivers staff and foster carers are actively recruiting across Gloucester and surrounding areas.
“Foster carers are provided monthly supervisions, training courses to support with young people and many exciting family days around the South West.”
