Remember a loved one with Longfield’s Daisy Appeal

MOST READ

Following two successful ‘In Memory’ Appeals using metal flowers as a way for people to donate and remember a loved one, Longfield Community Hospice is launching a third appeal with its latest metal flower offering – a Michaelmas daisy.

The appeal will give supporters a thoughtful way to remember someone special.

When they make a generous donation to the appeal, they will reserve a beautiful metal Michaelmas daisy – a symbol of eternal love.

Before being dispatched to their new homes, the daisies will be displayed in Stroud’s Museum in the Park, from August 2nd – 21st. The mesmerising sight of hundreds of delicate blue daisies will give visitors a chance to pause and remember loved ones no longer with us.

Sam is supporting Longfield’s Daisy Appeal in memory of his mum, Gillian. He explained how Longfield helped him care for his mum at home, in her final months:

“Mum had lung cancer which spread to her brain. She went downhill quickly when chemotherapy finished. Doctors told us nothing more could be done.

“The Longfield team visited us the same day Mum came home from hospital. I was amazed at the level of support we received. It was professional hospice care, but in Mum’s own home. Nothing was too much trouble. We had three visits a day at first, then overnight care too.

“When you’re caring for someone you love, time is precious. The support we had from Longfield helped us make the most of our time together. In the most difficult of times, I have some beautiful memories of Mum.”

Longfield supports people in Gloucestershire with a life-limiting illness, from diagnosis onwards. As well as providing Hospice at Home care, Longfield also offers help and support to patients, families and carers through a range of Wellbeing services at the hospice.

To reserve a daisy, visit longfield.org.uk/daisy-appeal or call the fundraising team on  01453 886868. The suggested donation is £30 per daisy.
