Austin Design Works has scooped a four gold star award for its Society of Garden and Landscape Designers stand at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025.
Designed by Rachael Austin, co-founder of Austin Design Works, the stand captured the judges’ attention for its creativity, storytelling, and innovative design, perfectly encapsulating the journey from garden dream to garden reality.
Inspired by high-fashion window displays, theatrical set design, and the fantastical imagery of the recent Wicked film, the stand invites visitors to step through a three-layered experience: from a whimsical nursery-rhyme-inspired dreamscape, through the technical process of garden creation, and finally into a stunning real-world garden scene, framed by a rose-laden wooden arch and glowing festoon lights.

The construction of the stand was a true collaborative effort, brought to life by the talented multidisciplinary team at Austin Design Works, working alongside celebrated local illustrator Jenny Bowers. Together, they crafted a hand-drawn, white-painted stage set, intricate construction drawings, and a beautifully immersive final scene, combining craftsmanship, technical expertise, and artistic flair.
Accessibility and inclusivity were central to the design, with ramps for easier access, enhanced audio descriptions, and a celebration of the diversity of clients, designers, and communities that SGLD represents.

As a certified B Corporation, Austin Design Works is proud to champion sustainability, creativity, and social responsibility at every stage of our work. To see these values recognised on one of the world’s most prestigious stages is a tremendous honor.
Rachael Austin said: “Winning this award at RHS Chelsea is beyond anything I could have hoped for. It’s a celebration of the power of gardens to inspire, connect, and include everyone. I’m so proud of the incredible team effort behind this project, and I can’t wait for visitors to experience the magic we’ve created.”
