Despite Government pledges to repair them, potholes are still the bane of drivers’ daily commute.
Pothole hell is still sweeping our district, made worse by the recent bad weather. This one in Park Road, Stroud, recently appeared, measuring around 30cm wide.
A Park Road resident said: “This is hell for drivers. I damaged my car tyre last week – something needs to be done.”
Pothole repairs have fallen to the lowest figure in a decade as inflation squeezes council budgets.
Nationally, a total of 1.4million were filled in last year at a cost of £93.7million.
Yet 1.7million potholes were filled in each of 2021 and 2022 — and 2.7million in 2015.
The recent Budget pledged a £200million pothole fund.
