Forest Green Rovers manager Robbie Savage has hailed the signing of centre-back Filozofe Mabete from Swindon Town on a six-month loan, describing the defender as a “brilliant signing”.
The 21-year-old right-footed centre-back becomes Rovers’ 10th signing of the summer ahead of Saturday’s National League opener against Halifax Town.
Mabete joined Swindon Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers in June 2025 after progressing through Wolves’ academy. Between 2021 and 2025, he made 114 appearances across the club’s Under-18, Under-21 and Under-23 sides.
The DR Congo youth international enjoyed an impressive first season at the County Ground, making 33 appearances and scoring twice during the 2025/26 campaign. He has also featured in every one of Swindon’s pre-season fixtures this summer.
Savage believes the defender will strengthen Rovers’ back line after impressing against his side in last weekend’s pre-season meeting.
“He’s a brilliant signing and played really well against us last weekend,” said Savage.
“It’s a great signing for the club. He’s got so many attributes.
“Thank you to Ian Holloway at Swindon for letting us have him.
“We are in a far better position at this time compared to last season.”
