Robbie Savage is set to be officially unveiled as the new manager of Peterborough United this afternoon following his departure from Forest Green Rovers.
The League One club has arranged a press conference for 1pm after Forest Green sporting director Mark Bowen and Peterborough director of football Barry Fry thrashed out a compensation package for Posh to obtain Savage’s services.
Savage’s move to Peterborough brings an end to his spell at The New Lawn, with Forest Green chairman Dale Vince confirming on Tuesday that the former Wales international had been given permission to speak to Peterborough.
Vince said: “We have given Robbie Savage permission to speak to Peterborough.
“He wanted to leave the club for personal reasons, reasons which we understand and respect.
“He’s been offered the job, and we’re now in a negotiation with Peterborough on the terms.
“We wish Robbie the very best.”
Savage had been under contract with Forest Green, having taken charge in 2025, and his departure follows a remarkable week of negotiations for the former Premier League star.
The move will see Savage return to League One, with his first game potentially coming against former club Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, October 10.
His departure also leaves Forest Green searching for a new permanent manager, with goalkeeper coach Jonathan Gould and coaches Yan Klukowski and Josh Bowen sharing managerial duties on an interim basis.
