RUGBY: Stroud gain the derby day bragging rights over Minchinhampton

MOST READ

After 603 days, rugby had returned to Fromehall Park and Stroud made it a triumphant afternoon with an emphatic 49-5 victory over local rivals Minchinhampton.

If anything, Stroud were guilty of trying to play too much rugby in the wet conditions and despite leading 28-0 at half-time, a handling error in the shadow of their own posts allowed Minchinhampton to gain possession before spreading the play wide for their winger to cross in the right corner for a late consolation.

However, Stroud had the final word with a tremendous eight-man surge and allowed Cremmins in for the final try of the afternoon.  Ashenford completed an unblemished afternoon from the tee by slotting his toughest kick of the afternoon.
