SDC leader tipped to be prospective Parliamentary frontrunner

Leader of Stroud District Council, Doina Cornell is understood to be prospective Labour Party Parliamentary frontrunner for the next general election.

The Stroud District Council Labour Party group leader is thought to be in the box seat for the post.

Cllr Cornell refused to comment on the speculation but is seen as the popular choice to step into Cllr Drew’s experienced shoes.

Mr Drew, who represented Stroud between 1997 to 2010 and 2015 to 2019, lost his seat to Conservative MP Siobhan Baillie by a majority of 3,840.
