A flurry of interest for a restaurant premises in Stroud is expected to spark a bidding war.
Wes Birch who runs Birch, at 6 Union Street along with the Ship Inn at Brimscombe, has put the building on the market for £45,000, the sale includes fixtures and fittings and six months rent-free.
Previously known as the Food Emporium and Dinners at Six, which Wes headed up, the restaurant owner feels Stroud is in need of more night time eating venues: “Stroud is crying out for more places to eat at night, but we do have the likes of the Corner House, but I would be delighted if the premises are sold as a restaurant – I’m mindful who we sell to, but we’ve had plenty of interest and viewings and I’m expecting it to go to a sealed bidder,” Wes told Stroud Times.
Birch outside catering will continue to flourish, with a soon to be revealed new premises. Wes currently employ 50 members of staff, which includes his other business, the Ship Inn.
Established ten years ago, Wes streamlined the restaurant post-Covid to offer coffee and cake during the farmers’ market Saturday hours.
