SGS College Principal Sara-Jane Watkins was invited by Stroud MP Siobhan Baillie to Downing Street last week to meet the Education Secretary at the Local skills Champions Reception.

The education leader was picked by Ms Baillie to go through the famous black front door with her to an event hosted by Gillian Keegan because of her commitment to helping young people into careers.

“I was really pleased Sarah-Jane was able to come to Downing Street and receive the acknowledgement she deserves for leading SGS College. I have known her for many years and have seen how much she does to educate and skill young people here.  The whole SGS team goes above and beyond.,” said Ms Baillie.

“She leads a wonderful team at SGS and I am so pleased to be regularly involved with the college as a government further education ambassador and as a proud local MP.”

Sara-Jane Watkins said: “It was a great opportunity to meet with like-minded people who are passionate about ensuring we are delivering the best possible training for young people in this country so that we can deliver a skilled workforce for the future.

“We really value the work that Siobhan does in recognising the amazing contribution that further education colleges have on the skills and opportunities of young people and we really appreciate her constant lobbying of ministers to ensure the voice of the sector is recognised and appreciated and that we can benefit from the continued investment in the sector.”
