It’s time to shine a light on Stroud’s community heroes at the Town Council’s annual meeting.

The awards, organised by the Town Council, recognise those people in Stroud – young and old – who go the extra-mile.

There are five categories: community, environment, trader, inclusivity and diversity and young person of the year. Groups or individuals can be nominated.

The awards will be presented at Stroud’s Town Meeting on Wednesday May 17 from 7.30pm, in St Rose’s School, Stratford Lawn, Stroud.

The Town Meeting is a gathering of electors of the town, who are welcome and are encouraged to attend. The agenda of the evening leaves time for questions from the public.

The keynote speaker will be James Jefferies, the newly elected ‘Bicycle Mayor’ for the district who is working to implement pro-cycling schemes locally and regionally.James is full of passion and energy about the infrastructure needed for promoting active travel and his presentation will make for an enlightening evening.

Sheila Talwar, Principal of St. Rose’s will speak about their work.

Light refreshments will be provided. Parking is on site and available nearby, at Stratford Park.
