Shortwood United have parted company with first-team manager Peter Beadle and have moved quickly to appoint Mike Finan as his successor.
The Hellenic League club confirmed the decision in a statement, thanking former Hereford FC boss Beadle for his efforts after taking charge midway through last season.
The decision follows a turbulent close season at Meadowbank, with Shortwood losing several key members of last season’s squad. Goalkeeper Joe Wright joined Stonehouse Town last week, top scorer Alfie Bradshaw has appeared for Slimbridge in pre-season and Dom Kent has also departed to sign for Brimscombe & Thrupp. The departures have left the Nailsworth side facing a major recruitment drive before the new campaign begins.
Beadle arrived with the club at the foot of the table and alongside Jamie Underwood he guided Shortwood to safety while also overseeing a memorable cup victory during his spell in charge.
In a statement, Shortwood United said: “Peter came in mid-season and steered the club away from the foot of the table and took us to a memorable cup win.
“Despite this the club has faced a mass exodus of players and it has become apparent that the club now faces a huge task in player recruitment and it is felt that a new approach is needed and we need to act quickly and decisively.”
Shortwood added: “With that in mind we have called upon Mike Finan to take up the reins in an effort to rebuild the squad and continue our Hellenic League status and we will make a further announcement on our management team when appropriate.”
Finan, a former Shortwood United striker, joined the Nailsworth club at the start of pre-season after impressing during a spell as manager at County League side Chalford.
