Shop in Stroud on Christmas Eve, Sunday

The Stroud & District Chamber of Trade and Commerce is encouraging you to shop, eat, drink and be merry in their local towns this Christmas Eve.

Stroud-based Volunteers from the Chamber have been compiling a list, which includes over 50 businesses who will be open this Christmas Eve across town. With Christmas Eve falling on a Sunday, it gives an extra day to buy Christmas treats and gifts.

Stroud District Council operated car parks are free to use on Sunday, and the Council have agreed to open the London Road Multi-storey Car Park (Brunel Mall) on Christmas Eve to ensure there is ample capacity. The Five Valleys Shopping Centre car park has also waived its parking charges during the day.

Tony Davey, Chairman of the Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce commented: “With over 50 businesses open across the town, offering everything from excellent value, quality gifts to a well earned mince pie, there are plenty of reasons to round-off your Christmas shopping in Stroud this year – over 50 reasons, in fact. For those who need to travel by car, there will be free parking across most car parks in the town, plus less hustle and bustle than you may find elsewhere.

We encourage our communities to Think Local First, especially at Christmas, because the early months of a new year are tough for many retail and hospitality businesses. If you’re looking for excellent quality, thoughtful gifts that offer great value for money, or just an extra seasonal treat or two, head to your local town and support local jobs, local opportunities and your local economy.”
