Newent 3 Shortwood 1
Shortwood manager Marcus Foxwell was forced to play in goal as the Nailsworth side suffered back-to-back Hellenic League Division One West defeats at Newent Town, writes Jim Cunneen.
With Joe Wright unavailable, Foxwell’s side were hamstrung from the off in a below-par display.
Second half goals from former Shortwood striker Ryan Dobbins, Kyle Taylor and Josh Swales saw Newent home, having trailed at the break to Fin Byrnes’ header.

Shortwood opened the scoring just before the interval when Byrnes nodded home after good work from Jack Gardner and the lively Tyler Jaggers.
Alfie Bradshaw almost added a second, but the impressive Goode thwarted him with an excellent save.
Goode then denied Bradshaw and Gardner early in the second period, but Dobbins netted parity and Taylor then made it 2-1 to the hosts from a free-kick. Goode denied Bradshaw again and with 15 minutes to go.
With two minutes left, Newent added their third. Foxwell saved well from Dobbins but was powerless to stop Swales knocking home the rebound.
