Shortwood United have confirmed the departure of manager Marcus Foxwell after just nine games of the season.
The Hellenic League Division One side currently sit just outside the relegation zone, with one win, two draws, and six defeats so far this campaign.
In a heartfelt message, Wood chairman Simon Grant said: “We at Shortwood have made a very tough decision to part ways with Marcus Foxwell.
“I would like to personally thank Marcus for his time at the club. Marcus came to Shortwood as a player and quickly captured the hearts of everyone here. Not long after his arrival, the club faced the abrupt departure of our then manager, Dan Gillespie.
“With no managerial experience, Marcus stepped up to the challenge alongside Andy Moody. The two of them hit the ground running and, over the last few seasons, have put together a great squad of players. I’m sure Marcus will have a very bright future ahead of him as a manager and coach.
“Hand on heart, I can honestly say it has been an absolute pleasure working with a kind and enthusiastic man in Marcus. All of us at Shortwood wish him the very best and look forward to seeing him succeed in his next venture.”
Shortwood United are not expected to have a new manager in place before this weekend’s Marsh Cup tie against local rivals Brimscombe.
