Shortwood have signed former Slimbridge and Taverners attacking midfielder Tyler Jaggers.

Shortwood boss Marcus Foxwell secured Jaggers’ signature after he starred in the Nailsworth side’s 3-2 victory over Brockworth on Saturday.

Jaggers is expected to play for Shortwood against Slimbridge on Friday at Thornhill Park, 7.45pm.

A delighted Foxwell told Stroud Times: “I watched Tyler a few times last season and I knew he was somebody I would like to bring into our squad. He offers some real quality in attacking areas and will be a good fit with our current squad and playing style.”

An undoubted talent, Foxwell is looking forward to bring out the best in Jaggers, who previously played for Slimbridge U18s before graduating into the then Southern League outfit.

Foxwell added: “I look forward to working with him this season and trying to get the best out of him. He has an opportunity to showcase himself with quality players around him and I look forward to seeing what we can all achieve together.”

Shortwood have also added Travis Cooke form Rodborough Old Boys and Joe Williams. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Joe Wright, Olly Whelan, Fin Byrnes, Dom Kent, Jack Gardner, Elliot Martin, Martin Smith, Tom King, Will Davis and long-serving captain Joe Tryner have all returned to Meadowbank.

Foxwell is relishing the new Hellenic League Division One West season that starts at home to FC Stratford on Saturday, August 3.

He said: “I’m still looking to retain the last few and bring in one or two to give us that strength-in-depth and squad size required to compete in Hellenic Division 1.”
