SPOTLIGHT: Maddi proves she is ‘Mad About Art’

After a decade of working with British contemporary artist Damien Hirst, Maddi Staples is branching out on her own.

After qualifying for a BA in Fine Art, studying in London and Michigan USA, Maddi moved to Stroud, working at Hirst’s Science studio in Dudbridge.

“I was Senior Artist’s Assistant, primarily working in fabrication and international installations for galleries, museums and private clients,” said Maddi. “The most notable of these were Retrospective Tate Modern, 2012, Relics in Doha, 2013 and Treasures from the Wreck of The Unbelievable in Venice, 2017.”

Although it is probably the most difficult time to launch a new business 37-year-old Maddi is undeterred and is using the time to plan, design, enthuse and prepare as she launches Mad About Art, which provides parties, mainly for children using art as the entertainment.

Maddi added: “Post-Covid, my plan is to arrive at your venue with all the arts and crafts in tow. I will set up, entertain your friends and family, give them something to keep, and will clear up before leaving.”

And Maddi believes that anyone can be arty and loves to see someone struggle but then produce something they are proud of, guided by her. She is colourful, energetic and excited – just like her art.
