Red Dwarf actor Robert Llewellyn will be the star attraction at the Nailsworth Transport Festival.
Llewellyn is best known as Kryten in the sci-fi television sitcom, he has also hosted the engineering gameshow Scrapheap Challenge.
Llewellyn now produces a podcast on YouTube, a live discussion focussing on electric vehicles and renewable energy, which has also featured Forest Green and Ecotricity chief Dale Vince.
Sarah Martin, Market & Events Organiser for Nailsworth Chamber of Trade & Commerce, said: “We are pleased to say Robert Llewellyn will be joining us at Egypt Mill at 3pm on Sunday 25th June to answer questions about electric vehicles & renewable energy in his jovial quick-witted style we have all come to love and expect. And he will also be amongst us enjoying the festival and seeing what Nailsworth has to offer.
“This year’s Transport Festival is really motoring we have a superb line up of vehicles from Vintage to modern day electric to tantalise and excite you all.
“Mercedes Benz of Cheltenham and Gloucester will be there with three new electric vehicles to showcase, we have electric bike companies, Edemo, The Bike Shop and My cycle / PathFinder Tours.
“The superb Nailsworth CAN will be there in force at the festival to share upcoming projects, and they want the members of the public to contribute their own ideas on what they would like to see in Nailsworth, we need to start making choices that will help our planet and ensure a healthy future for our children to thrive in, this needs to be done sooner rather than later.
“Nailsworth CAN have also organised with Cirencester College and Cotswold energy some wonderful activities for you to participate in, and there will be an array of electric vehicles that you are able to look over and ask all those troubling questions you think you may have. And I can ensure you they will have only positive answers that will quell your worries & fears.
“At the festival we have an array of locally sourced food and drink ranging from BBQ / Jamaican / Sri Lankan / Pizza / Italian / cakes / sweets and freshly made doughnuts. We also have stalls with beautiful handmade crafts made with love.
“The Chamber have organised for you back-to-back musical entertainment throughout the day from 10.30am until 8.00pm. and the amazing Jim & Sarah who will be joining us with there dance troop and Jiving and Lindy hopping on and off throughout the day, you will not be able to stop yourselves from joining in and we encourage you do so.
“The Chamber of Trade have also lined up a free of charge Park & Ride & shuttle bus running from the Barn Site on the Avening Road GL6 0BS up Spring Hill to the roundabout at the Arkell Centre throughout the day in a loop so that you can kick back and enjoy the event this service starts at 10.00am and runs until 8.15pm as the last bus leaves the town centre at the end of the day.
“We must not forget the children of our community we have electric toy cars, face painting, and entertainment from Jungle World, singing and dancing and a couple of rides and vintage games that will keep them entertained for hours.

Nailsworth Transport Festival will be running from Nailsworth Bus Station and the centre of Nailsworth in Old Market Road from 10.30am until 8.00pm on Sunday 25th June 2023. A free park and-ride system will run from the large parking area opposite the Blue Diamond garden centre on the Avening Road (GL6 0BS).
