State-of-the-art heating and cooling system to enhance shopper comfort

Visitors and traders at Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud will soon benefit from a new, energy-efficient heating and cooling system, improving comfort throughout the year while cutting carbon emissions.

Local firm Neptune Building Services is currently installing nine advanced VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air-conditioning units in the centre’s market and food hall area. The system offers precise climate control, ensuring the space remains cool in summer and warm in winter — with a lower environmental impact.

This investment is part of Five Valleys’ ongoing improvement programme for 2025, focused on enhancing the shopping experience and reducing the centre’s carbon footprint.

Erica Malpass, Centre Manager at Five Valleys, said: “Our market is a great asset here in Stroud, but we want to make it more comfortable during extreme weather. We’re thrilled to be working with local company Neptune on this important upgrade.”

Charlie Timms, Construction Manager at Dransfield Properties, added: “The new system will make a real difference in creating a comfortable, year-round environment for both visitors and traders.”

Kevin O’Durny, Air Conditioning Manager at Neptune, commented: “This is a brilliant way to cut emissions and energy costs. We’re proud to help Five Valleys lead the way with sustainable technology.”

The installation is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
