Today, Monday, Cllr Nick Housden will take up his county council’s cabinet position.
As well as becoming Cabinet Member with a focus on Levelling Up, Cllr Housden will also take on the Public Health portfolio, held by Cllr Tim Harman for the past five years. Cllr Harman will continue as local councillor for Lansdown and Park.
Leader of the Council, Mark Hawthorne said: “I am so grateful for Tim whose leadership has seen us through the most challenging years Public Health has ever faced.
“I’d like to congratulate Nick on his appointment. Over the past 12 months, since he was elected to the council, he has shown himself to be an extremely capable councillor. I have no doubt he will be successful in delivering on the priorities that will support communities and business across the county. I look forward to working with him.”
Cllr Nick Housden said: “It is a privilege to have been appointed to this role. Our communities and their health and wellbeing have been the top priority over the past two years. As we come out of the pandemic, there is a lot to be done I am really looking forward to driving forwards, with communities, our Levelling Up ambitions to make sure, wherever someone lives, they can be healthy and prosperous. I too want to thank the Leader for the opportunity and my congratulations to Tim for all he achieved during his time in office.”
