Stonehouse Town secured their first victory of the season in style, overcoming local rivals Brimscombe & Thrupp 3-0 at the Ben’s Takeaway Stadium.

After two opening defeats, Adam Coyle’s Magpies delivered a dominant second-half display to sink a Brimscombe side who had started the campaign with back-to-back wins at the top of the Hellenic League Division One table.

Josh Beadle struck twice after the break, with Harley Hudd adding a third to seal the points and ignite Stonehouse’s season.

Manager Coyle was full of praise for his side’s performance.

“Obviously delighted to get the win, three goals and a clean sheet,” he said. “We were disappointed not to be ahead at the break, in all honesty, and we didn’t really want half-time to come. But credit to the lads who carried on in the second half where we left off and got the win we deserved.”

Coyle believes the victory reflects his team’s growing confidence and improvement.

“We haven’t been far off in the last two games, but we’ve had some bad habits we’re trying to clear up quickly in a busy run of fixtures. For large spells today we didn’t show those habits, so it shows we’re learning.”

The Stonehouse boss also highlighted the impact of the home crowd, which included strong backing from the club’s second team.

“Massive shout out to all the supporters today, another brilliant crowd — especially our second team, who didn’t have a game and made it a great atmosphere.”

The win moves Stonehouse off the mark in the league and gives them momentum heading into a busy stretch of fixtures.
