A crunch meeting to discuss the future of Stratford Park Lido will take place in the unusual setting of a church, with supporters hoping that a touch of good fortune—if not divine intervention—may help secure the future of the iconic Stratford Park venue.

The meeting, organised by Stroud Town Council, takes place tonight, Monday, at St Laurence Church from 6pm to 8pm.

The debate will bring together councillors, officers, and community representatives to examine options for the lido’s future. The venue has been chosen to allow for community attendance and to provide a neutral space for what is expected to be a significant and closely watched discussion.

The panel will be chaired by Faye Hatcher of Stroud Times and will feature the following speakers:

  • Heath Gunter – Deputy CEO, Stroud Town Council
  • Cllr Martin Brown – Chair, Stroud District Council Community & Licensing Committee
  • Cllr Chloe Turner – Leader, Stroud District Council
  • Keith Gerrard – Strategic Director – Communities, Stroud District Council
  • Tim Temple – South West Development Manager, Locality
  • Caroline Molloy – Save Our Lido Stroud campaign
  • Alan George – Founding Director, Wotton Lido

The discussion comes amid continued public interest in the future of Stratford Park Lido, a much-loved community asset that has been the subject of ongoing debate regarding its long-term viability, management, and potential redevelopment options.

The meeting is expected to explore a range of possibilities, including operational models, funding challenges, and community-led solutions.

St Laurence Church provides the setting for what many hope will be a constructive and forward-looking conversation about the lido’s role in the town’s future.
