A former chemists in Stroud has a new lease of life.

Lloyds Pharmacy at Locking Hill shut five years ago, but will now become the new home for Locking Hill Streaming Studio, which will feature art, music, film and poetry.

Hosted by renowned artist Everest Wilson-Copp, events will take place from Friday, May 30 to Wednesday, June 4.

Everest studied fine art and has worked in the arts for three decades. Back in 1989, he made a documentary about the Stroud Music Recreational Trust and has recently begun filming a follow-up documentary about the current Stroud Music scene. The original documentary featured Ian Dury, Eddie Reader and Terry Oldfield.

Everest will transform his studio into an immersive experience where the audience will encounter a world of poetry, music and sound.

The event will run each day between 11am in the morning and 1am in the evening. The main performances will be between 8pm and 11.30pm. Local poet Adam Horovitz will be performing on Saturday, May 31 at 9.30pm.

Everest told Stroud Times: “My ambition is to light up this corner of Locking Hill and Slad Road, bringing this area of central Stroud to life, and I am excited to be contributing to the rich local cultural scene.”
