For the 79th year, Artistic Director, Dave Ayre has created a vibrant programme with world class artists and performers based on the theme of Nature – Water – Life. A journey exploring how music, theatre, dance, poetry and art are inspired and influenced by the natural world.

Saturday, May 10 will see Autin Dance Theatre with Eko, the 13ft Sea Giant, who will explore Stroud town centre with performances combining physical theatre and puppetry at St Laurence Church. There are two opportunities to meet Eko on the High Street and follow them on their journey! This is a free event for all the family.

In the evening, Orchestra of the Swan bring their exploration of the natural world with Earthsongs, featuring violinist David Le Page and the exquisite vocals of Jackie Oates. This unique concert blends classical, folk and experimental music from Vivaldi to Joy Division, Piazolla to Brian Eno, highlighting the beauty of our planet.

On Sunday, May 11 the festival moves to the Museum in the Park with dancer Marie-Louise Flexen and Bird Nerd & the Red List – an exciting, new dance theatre performance piece, focusing on popular UK birds on the endangered species ‘red list’.

Over the weekend Dave Ayre and his Nanoscopic Ensemble – All Night Under the Moon – A nature-inspired concert with music and songs from Purcell to composer Jonathan Trim.

With art workshops, music and dance we have entertainment for all ages. All tickets available from stroudartsfestival.org/events
