Stroud’s Bank Gardens will host a Global Awareness Day bringing together music, food, activities and conversations about some of the world’s most pressing issues on Saturday 5th September 11am – 4pm.
The family-friendly event will be an opportunity to celebrate multicultural music and culture, while exploring how interconnected global challenges can affect people and communities locally.
Families are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy a day of live music, talks, activities, crafts, stalls, food and films.
Organised by the Stroud District Coalition for a Just Peace in Palestine, the event aims to encourage curiosity and conversation, raise awareness of interconnected global issues, mobilise support for positive action within the local community and promote a more peaceful and just society.
From 12 noon, Stroud Love Music Hate Racism and Global Beats will present ‘One Love’, a musical celebration of multiculturalism.
Live performances will include Simbora Samba Band and Albino Tarantino, alongside DJs playing music from around the world, including Bhangra, reggae, Latin, Arabic, Baltic and more.
The day will get underway with a colourful parade through Stroud at 11am, starting at Bank Gardens and led by Street Beats Samba.
The Red Band will play in Bank Gardens from 10.30am to help send the parade on its way.
The celebrations will continue into the evening with a reggae afterparty at community venue Lansdown Hall, featuring the Resident Roots Reggae Sound Clash from 9pm until 1am.
