Stroud Homebase could be under threat of closure as the chain looks set to shut 49 of its branches.

Staff at the Stroud store were tight-lipped regarding the future of the store, but one customer told Stroud Times: “I’m really disappointed about this – I returned some items this morning and I was told I couldn’t claim a refund due to the store going into administration.”

Meanwhile, retail tycoon dubbed the ‘Del Boy Billionaire’ has swooped in to save Homebase at the eleventh hour – but 49 sites are still at risk of closing. 

The deal by Chris Dawson, whose company CDS Superstores acts as parent company to The Range, was confirmed on Wednesday by administrator Teneo.
