A Stroud man has set a new record summiting 30 of Britain’s highest peaks in just three days.
James Norbury, 31, has completed a mammoth 150km challenge by completing the 10 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.
Billed as the 30 Peak Challenge, the test of human endurance involved nearly 100miles of running as well as ascending more than 12,000 meters of vertical elevation – one and a half times the height of Mt Everest.
The challenge is a take on the classic National Three Peak Challenge, in which intrepid explorers summit the three highest peaks across England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours – Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).
However, in recent years these famous peaks have created national headlines for becoming overcrowded with queues regularly forming at their summit.
Norbury’s aim of the challenge was to inspire Brits to seek out some of Britain’s lesser known, but equally beautiful, mountains.
