Stroud MP Simon Opher has shared his sympathy for those affected by the shooting at Bondi Beach.
More than 1,000 people were attending an event at Sydney’s Bondi Beach to mark the first day of Hanukkah.
Just before 7pm on Sunday, local time, shots were fired leaving at least 12 people dead, and more than two dozen injured.
Mr Opher said: “I am horrified by the awful antisemitic terrorist attack on Bondi beach on the eve of Chanukah.
“This should be a time for celebrating the power of resilience and liberation over oppression, yet this act of terror casts a dark shadow over the festival.
“My thoughts are with Jewish people across the world.”
New South Wales Police confirmed there have been multiple fatalities in the incident and that two shooters have been “neutralised” while the scene is being cleared of suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Officers are yet to provide an update on the number of deaths, although local reports say at least ten people have been killed.
