AN OPTICIANS in Stroud is celebrating the five year anniversary of one of their first ever in-store apprentices.
Saskia Robbins joined Specsavers, located at Unit 1 in the Five Valleys Shopping Centre as one of the store’s first apprentice’s in 2019.
Since joining the team, not only has Saskia completed her apprenticeship, she has gone on to complete her Level 3 and 4 qualifications in dispensing, become the store’s customer service manager and has taken on a regional role as in-store trainer chair to support the wider network of Specsavers stores throughout the region.
Alongside her in-store career development, Saskia has also volunteered hours of her own time to help homeless communities in the area with their eyecare needs and worked with The Big Issue, a social enterprise that helps vulnerable people overcome poverty, addiction and other symptoms of social exclusion while supporting them to achieve financial stability.
‘We are all incredibly proud of how far Saskia has come since joining the team as an apprentice,” says Cobi Williams, store director at Specsavers Stroud. ‘With her determination and passion to help others, Saskia has become a highly valued member of the team and we have loved watching her continue to progress and develop.’
Specsavers offers three apprenticeship schemes – optical assistant, spectacle maker and customer service. With more than 500 apprentices employed on these schemes, Specsavers is one of the largest apprenticeship employer providers to have achieved an outstanding grading in England.
