A new independent poll by Survation reveals that a clear majority of Stroud residents support Dale Vince’s right to fly the Palestinian flag outside Ecotricity’s headquarters.
These findings directly contradict claims in the national media that Mr Vince’s giant Palestinian flag is dividing the town.
The poll revealed 60% support Mr Vince’s right to fly the flag – regardless of their personal view on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Two-thirds say they either support the flag or have no objection.
Mr Vince said: “Our poll shows the truth. Stroud is not split. It’s not bitter. It’s not angry. Stroud is a community where free speech matters – where people respect the right to take a stand. And where a clear majority believe Israel has gone too far. As does the majority of Britain.”

Key Findings from Survation Poll revealed 45% of residents believe Palestine should be recognised as a state (10% opposed). 55% say Israel’s actions in Gaza have “gone too far” (18% disagree, the rest unsure). 37% believe the UK government should be more critical of Israel (9% say less critical).
Support for the flag was strongest among Green Party voters (49% in favour, 15% opposed). Among Labour voters, opposition was lowest – with just 5% against.
Mr Vince added: “This poll proves what I’ve always known – Stroud is a place where people stand up for what they believe in, and respect the rights of others to do the same.”
