The Stroud Sacred Music Festival at St Laurence Church, Stroud, has become an iconic event in the Stroud calendar, bringing a world-class line-up of global musicians year after year since 2015.

The theme for 2022 is ‘Music from out of Exile.’ “We are thrilled to welcome back Syrian ‘Queen of the Qanan’ Maya Youssef, and her brilliant sextet, as our headline act in the evening concert on Saturday, July 9th. She is so in demand now and we are extremely lucky to have her with us again this year,” said Rev Simon Howell.

Ms Youssef combines classical music training in quanan with contemporary
concerns. Her recent album Finding Home tracks the journey of hastily leaving her war-torn homeland and finding sanctuary in UK.

Other contributors are Ukrainian Singer Nadia Posotlatii; Eastern Strings & Nabra quartet, specially formed for the festival; Cecilia Ndhlovu from Zimbabwe; multi-talented composer Matthew Heyse-Moore and house band the RagaBabas.

Rev Simon Howell added: “We would of course like a conversation with those who might wish to sponsor the event or a participating artist – and those who may wish to volunteer in the production of the Festival.”
