Stroud Town Council wants to shine a light on Stroud’s community heroes in the town’s annual awards, writes Marianne Sweet.

The awards, organised by the Town Council, recognise those people in Stroud – young and old – who go the extra mile.

There are five categories: community, environment, trader, inclusivity and diversity and young person of the year. Groups or individuals can be nominated.

Nominating someone is easy. All you need to do is include the person’s name and contact details and a few sentences about why they deserve an award.

“It’s people who make a community great and we can achieve so much together,” said Stroud Mayor Stella Parkes.

“These awards provide a great opportunity to pause in our busy lives to say thank you to the town’s amazing people who do so much to make our town such a great place.”

The winners will be announced at the annual Town Meeting on Wednesday 17th May 2023 at the Subscription Rooms.

The Annual Town Meeting is open to Stroud residents and is a chance for people to find what has been happening in the town and to discuss town matters.

Nominations can be submitted online at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/StroudAwards or you can pick up a nomination form from the Town Council office in London Road, which is open Mon-Fri 9.30-12.30 or request one by phoning 01453 762817.

The deadline for nominations is 30th April 2023.
