Stroud woman jailed for breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

A Stroud woman has been jailed for nine months after breaching her Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Jesse Hancock, aged 39 and of no fixed abode, was handed a CBO in April which prohibited her from entering any retail premises belonging to the Stroud and Gloucester Citysafe Scheme and North Woodchester Post Office.

Hancock was found to be in breach of her CBO after CCTV footage showed her entering a Stroud supermarket on two occasions in October and stealing items from inside.

Officers from several different teams worked together to locate Hancock who was then arrested on Tuesday 22 October and charged with two shoplifting offences and two breaches of her Criminal Behaviour Order.

Hancock was remanded in custody and appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 13 November where she pleaded guilty to all charges. She also asked for a further six shoplifting offences to be taken into consideration.

Hancock was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Inspector James Hutchins said: “Hancock has continually flouted the conditions of her CBO, reoffending multiple times.

“I hope his custodial sentence will reassure the businesses who have been affected by her crimes and send a message to those who are intent on committing these types of offences that they will not be tolerated.

“We will continue to support our businesses in the town by targeting shoplifters and obtaining further orders at court where possible.”
