Stroud’s iconic hotel is due to begin welcoming its first guests from 5pm, today.
The Stroud Hotel previously known as the Imperial, dates back to 1863 and was acquired by London-based S2 Estates in 2022.
Following a £2m refurbishment, the new hotel bar and kitchen is being spearheaded by creative director Steph Burrows, an ex-professional ballet dancer and the wife of Razorlight drummer, Andy Burrows.
Steph told Stroud Times: “We are delighted to announce we will be opening the Stroud Hotel, Bar and Kitchen on Friday, December 15th from 5pm.

“The hotel will have a stunning new restaurant, the aptly named Bucknall Bar, a function room for parties and events and 24 bedrooms including suites, family rooms and dog friendly rooms.
“Our newly revived historic grade II listed hotel, bar and kitchen has been designed with a contemporary and rustic charm. Situated in the Cotswold market town of Stroud and conveniently located opposite the Railway Station just 1.5 hours from London’s Paddington. For the local community to come together and for those visiting we are your Cotswold home.

The Imperial was built in 1863 by Benjamin Bucknall, the architect who also designed Woodchester Park Mansion.
The hotel was sold to the Stroud Brewery Company in 1949 for £25,000 and was acquired by Berni Inns in 1964.
