One of Stroud’s most popular community events is set to return this summer as Yard Trail Stroud celebrates its ninth year on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31.
The Yard Trail Stroud promises a delightful adventure that sparks curiosity, conversations, and brings communities together.
The event pulls people together to buy, sell or give away anything and everything from clothes, furniture and bric-a-brac to artwork and plants.
The town-wide community yard sale sees residents transform their gardens, driveways and garages into mini market stalls, creating a treasure-hunting experience that attracts hundreds of bargain hunters from across the area.
Visitors, known as “Trailers”, use a specially produced map to navigate the town in search of pre-loved bargains, hidden gems and unique finds while meeting neighbours and supporting a more sustainable way of shopping.
Founded by Vix Ashcroft, Yard Trail Stroud was created with a simple but powerful mission: to keep usable items out of landfill while bringing people together and helping to tackle loneliness and social isolation.
Over the years, the event has grown into a much-loved fixture in the local calendar, encouraging residents to declutter, reuse and reconnect within their communities.
Residents living outside the main trail area can still take part by booking a stall at one of the dedicated Multi-Hubs located across the wider Stroud area, ensuring the event remains accessible to as many people as possible.
This year’s Yard Trail Stroud is proudly supported by Stroud Town Council, Transition Stroud and Loganberry Cafe.
Whether you’re looking to clear out unwanted items, discover a bargain, or simply enjoy a day exploring the town, organisers are encouraging everyone to get involved.
