Sudden power – cut leaves Nailsworth shops and homes in the dark

MOST READ

Parts of Nailsworth are left without electricity this evening after a fault on high-voltage power lines.

More than 250 homes and several businesses are affected by the outage.

A spokesperson for National Grid said: “Our engineers are working to get your electricity back on as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for the disruption.”

An eyewitness told the Stroud Times that the power cut impacted a wide area of the town, including shops. They added: “It took out a lot of Nailsworth. It sounds like the substation has gone up – there were lots of yellow lights and a huge area of darkness over Watledge going up from Egypt Mill.”

Engineers estimate that power will be restored by approximately 8.30pm.
