Yet another Cotswold Festival of Steam took place over the bank Holiday weekend, and a great success it was, writes Ian Thomas.
With seven steam locomotives in action, all GWR except for the odd man out Merchant Navy class 4-6-0 No 35006 Peninsular and Orient Line from the Southern Railway. Three locomotives were guest engines for the weekend, and they were the Great Western Society-built 4-6-0 No 2999 Lady of Legend, Grange class 4-6-0 No 6880 Betton Grange, built recently by the Betton Grange society.

Both passenger and goods trains ran to a timetable offering both the chance to travel in the British Railways-built Mark 1 coaches and even in the brake van on the goods trains, quite an experience through Greet Tunnel indeed!
The event was well attended, at least on Monday with all age groups in attendance. Traction engines and so on were on show at Toddington and the North Gloucestershire narrow gauge railway was in operation, so all in all a great weekend for both enthusiasts and the visitors.
