Tearoom opens in Stroud

Sofia’s Chinese Kitchen has opened its doors at Five Valleys Indoor Market in Stroud this weekend, offering a Hong Kong style tearoom dining experience to shoppers.

Owner Sofia Su will be giving her customers an authentic Chinese experience with a fabulous menu including homemade pork and prawn dumplings, fried rice and dim sum, as well as delicious, steamed Bao Buns and noodles.

Sofia is a self-taught traditional chef who has taken her passion for authentic Chinese dishes to launch her own business. When she moved with her family from Australia to Bristol in 2017 she saw a gap in the market for traditional Chinese food and started cooking.

Sofia’s Chinese Kitchen was launched from her home kitchen – selling a range of traditional dishes to the local community, taking orders through social media and building up a large local following.

She is now taking her business to the next level by joining the foodie line up at Five Valleys Market in Stroud. Sofia’s delicious range of traditional Chinese dishes are a great addition to the town centre market with both dine in and takeaway options.

Sofia said: “We are delighted with how our opening weekend has gone. The welcome and feedback we’ve received from the Stroud community and our fellow traders has been amazing.

“We look forward to seeing the business flourish in this next stage of our journey and being a part of this fantastic foodie destination in Stroud.”

Sofia’s Kitchen will be open 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday and the business is currently looking for people to join the team, creating jobs for the local area.

Centre Manager at Five Valleys, Jack Simpson, said: “We are really pleased to be welcoming Sofia to the Five Valleys market. Her menu is fantastic and complements the existing food offer here well.”

The market boasts a wide range of quality fresh produce traders including an artisan baker, butcher, grocer, fishmonger and deli. Shoppers are able to grab a bite to eat from a selection of street food units catering for all tastes from Tex-Mex, Portuguese, Indian, Thai, Italian, Sushi and BBQ food to name a few.
