Minchinhampton New Course Golf Club hosted a charity golf fundraising day event.
in aid of Home Start Stroud and Gloucester – a local charity that provides trained volunteers to support and help families with pre-school-aged children experiencing challenging times.
A total of 64 golfers took part in the event and managed to raise over £4,000.
Ri Ferrier, Director of Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester said: “The charity is reliant on the fundraising efforts of its kind supporters. All of the funds raised will be used to support the services we provide to vulnerable families in the area to ensure that children get the best start in life.
“It was great to see so many local companies sponsoring holes for the event.”
Sponsors of the holes included LawnDoc, Murrays Estate Agents Stroud, Keith Holland Opticians, WeShop, Woodchester Valley Vineyard, The Form Gallery, RSJ Investments, Cotswold Pictures, Personal Best, Jolly Nice, Amos Joinery, Veritas Management, Evolve Managed Services and Brace Creations.
The winning team included Stella Knight, Lizzie O’Dell, Lisa Lineham and Tracey Legg, with Noel Hibbert, Neil Puttnam, Ryan Yapp and Simon Brisk coming in second place.
The winning visitor’s team was Graham, Heather, Greg and Chris Morley from Cirencester Golf Club.
Volunteers for Home Start undertake a 10-week training course and are then carefully matched with families with children under 5 who they support for as long as needed. The next volunteer training course is due to start in September 2022.
