What’s on in Stroud this week: 21 – 27 April
Easter Week may be over but it’s a bank holiday on Monday and there are plenty of springtime events and activities to enjoy throughout the week.
Those looking for family-friendly activities can hunt Easter eggs in Slad, meet the animals at the Five Valleys Shopping Centre, celebrate Earth Day in Rodborough or ride the Stratford Park Miniature Railway.
Elsewhere, there is the chance to enjoy a poetry walk with the skylarks on Juniper Hill, attend an open mic night in Sladebank Woods, and catch the early bluebells on Cam Peak.

Juniper Hill Field has recently been acquired by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust following a successful campaign, and the event is organised by Juliette Morton & Emma Kernahan’s Stroud-based Dialect literary development programme for rural writers.
- Celebrate Earth Day in Rodborough – Sun 27 Apr, 12 noon – 4pm
Rodborough Parish Council hosts a special day of earth-celebration in Rectory Gardens, just downhill from the Prince Albert. Expect hands-on workshops, live music and performances, talks and stalls and low-carbon treats.
- Ride the Stratford Park Miniature Railway – Sun 27 Apr, 2 – 4:30pm
The Stroud Society of Model Engineers hosts 2025’s first public running of the Stratford Park Miniature Railway. The 850ft, 5″ and 3.5″ gauge track was constructed by volunteers in the late-1970s and early-1980s and riders pass over hand-built bridges and through a tunnel behind one of the society members’ miniature engines.
Continuing this week
- See the bluebells on Cam Peak – Ongoing
There are many great spots to witness the first of the f bluebells now spring is truly upon us, but few rival Cam Peak and Cam Longdown, on the outskirts of Dursley. Though the showing of bluebells is generally best in early-May, many are already beginning to show, and time is of the essence as – like the daffodils of March – they won’t be around for long.
Further afield
- Celebrate ten years of Tortworth Forest Centre – Sat 26 Apr, 10am – 4pm
Tortworth Arboretum and Forest Centre celebrates a decade of community, conservation, and connection with a day of special events, guided walks and family-friendly activities. Plus performance from the Temperance Two and the Rising Voices Choir and a special workshop with Sage Yoga Dance.
