Stroud Brewery is rightly revered as a buzzing social hotspot in Brimscombe, complete with a bar, for lovers of beer and a good time, but how many people actually realised they knock-up a hearty breakfast?
Stroud Times lapped up a most welcome invitation to sample what was on the breakfast menu at the picturesque canal side location.
The brainchild of founder Greg Pilley, Stroud Brewery celebrated turning 18 last year. Continual innovation is pointing this go-to destination in the right direction and breakfast is certainly a great start to the day, as the brewery adds more strings to its progressive bow.

Greg told Stroud Times: “If pubs are going to survive, they need to be more than just an ‘altar to beer’.
“Pubs have always had to evolve and, by re-defining their role to provide a supportive and inclusive space for anyone whatever their background, the future for our pubs – and our communities and environment – will flourish and prosper.”

Greg’s team afforded us a warm welcome. Breakfast was delivered with aplomb.
The menu offered a raft of delights. I’m a traditional type of guy, so I couldn’t look any further than a full English. My plate was adorned with a decadent array of streaky bacon, sausage, poached eggs, hash browns, roast tomato, sautéed chestnut mushrooms, chipotle black beans, black pudding and not forgetting organic sourdough bread. Utterly stuffed, I knew I wouldn’t be eating for the rest of the day.

I thought my colleague Matt would follow my lead with a full English, but without debate he picked mushroom toast and he wasn’t disappointed.
In truth, I’ve never seen so many sautéed mushrooms which complimented the house pesto and found a pleasing home on sourdough bread alongside a generous amount of mixed leaf salad.

Faye looked at the extensive breakfast menu, which offered egg on toast, chilli eggs, pancakes, BLT, sausage egg muffin, cream cheese and carrot gravadlax muffin. My esteemed work chum eventually bagged the veggie breakfast option, which included halloumi – another sublime choice, which she gave a big thumbs-up.
We left fully satisfied and agreed we’d all be back again.
Stroud Brewery’s brunch menu is available everyday from 10am -3pm.
