Barrow 1 Forest Green 2
Fasten your seat belts, Forest Green are on the road to the greatest escape.
Experienced boss Steve Cotterill earned his first win since taking charge at Rovers as the Nailsworth side lifted themselves off the foot of League Two with a 2-1 victory at Barrow to end a 15-game wait for a victory.
Playmaker Kyle McAllister put the visitors ahead in the 21st minute with a deflected effort as he nodded in Fankaty Dabo’s cross.
However, lead did not last long as Cole Stockton scored from 25-yards just eight minutes later.
January transfer window signing Manny Osadebe fired Forest Green back in front just before the hour. Barrow almost rescued a point came when Stockton saw a long-range strike hit the bar.
Cotterill’s side have now cut the deficit to safety to six points.
A delighted Cotterill told BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Billy Hunt: “That’s massive for the players, I’ve been in that dressing room so I’ve felt their pain. I’m really pleased for players and supporters.
“It was an unbelievable result. We deserved to win tonight and we’re delighted how we saw the win out.
“I’m really pleased for the fans here tonight and the fans at home who watched on the stream and Dale Vince and Asif (Rehmanwala) and I really hope they enjoyed their night at home as well.”
