The Lord John, a Wetherspoon pub in Russell Street, has been awarded a Platinum Plus grading following an unannounced inspection.
The annual awards highlight and promote excellence in ‘away-from-home’ toilet provision across the UK. Inspectors visited thousands of venues without prior notice, assessing facilities against strict criteria including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, handwashing and drying equipment, and overall management.
Toilets are graded bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond, with those falling below acceptable standards receiving no grading.
The Lord John is managed by Chris Mills, who welcomed the news.
Chris said: “We are delighted with the grading. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times, and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”
Loo of the Year Awards managing director Becky Wall added:
“The toilets at The Lord John have been designed and fitted to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained. The pub deserves its Platinum Plus grading.”
