The Range has opened a new store in Stroud as visitors flocked to explore the shop, at the former Homebase outlet on Cainscross Road.
The grand opening today, Friday was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Tony Davey, marking the debut of this new site, which brings together The Range’s popular homeware and furnishings, with an exciting new gardening hub for enthusiasts.

The ‘Garden Centre by Homebase’is a brand-new addition to the store offering everything from outdoor plants and gardening tools to essential supplies. This expanded range provides customers with a one-stop shop for all their home and garden needs. The new location also follows The Range’s dog-friendly initiative, allowing pets into the store, provided they are kept on a lead.
Shoppers were keen to be among the first to experience the store, with early queues forming outside from 7am. The initial 50 shoppers were treated to goody bags, filled with over 20 of the retailer’s most-loved products.
The very first customer in the queue received a free Charleston 2 Burner Gas BBQ courtesy of Calor Gas.
Brand representatives from key suppliers to The Range were present, offering shoppers expert advice, demonstrations, giveaways and samples.
Tom Berry, chair of the Stroud Chamber of Commerce and Trade and owner of independent record shop Sound Records said: “We’re pleased to hear that the former Homebase site is going to continue to be used for retail. The Range is a welcome addition to the shopping offer in the town.”
CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as The Range, Wilko and Homebase, Alex Simpkin said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many excited locals and visitors at our opening in Stroud.
