Thoughts with family following fatal road accident

A woman has sadly died following a serious collision in the Cotswolds on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to Arlington Pike in Bibury shortly after 12.10pm after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.

Very sadly, the pedestrian—a woman in her 80s—passed away at the scene despite the best efforts of those who responded. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with them.

The driver of the car, a man also in his 80s, was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon for assessment.

Road closures remain in place on Arlington Pike at the junctions for the B4425, Grove View and Hay Lane while emergency services continue their work.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage that could help the investigation, to come forward.
