Emergency services rushed to the scene of a dramatic multi-vehicle collision on the A46 near Brockworth this afternoon after three vehicles crashed and erupted into flames.

Police were called to Painswick Road, near the Green Street crossroads, at around 2.45pm following reports of a serious collision involving three vehicles. Moments later, all three vehicles were said to be ablaze, sending thick smoke into the air and triggering a major emergency response.

Firefighters from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service battled the intense vehicle fires and successfully extinguished the blaze, while police sealed off parts of the road to protect motorists and allow recovery crews to work safely.

Partial closures remain in place on Painswick Road as damaged vehicles are recovered from the scene, with drivers facing significant disruption throughout the area.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the A46 near Brockworth and seek alternative routes while investigations and recovery operations continue.
